Hi, I'm Tony. This is my blog.

Introducing my new blog, you know - a hello world kinda post.

on 11/3/10

As a web/software developer with an IT degree and years of knowledge and professional experience, it's a little startling that I don't have my own website. Well, here it is: a blog to share my thoughts about the web!

The content on this site will be primarily technical focused, including code I have written and technical solutions to problems I have faced. I intend to write about the following topics: Html, Css, JavaScript, jQuery, Php, CakePHP, Joomla, Flex, ActionScript, Amfphp, Sphinx and iPhone Development (amongst other things) as these are the frameworks and technologies I have been working with most recently.

The blog itself is custom built using CakePHP, giving me the flexibility to do exactly what I want with it. However, this means it is a work in progress, so bare with me while I add a couple of missing features and remove some unexpected 'features' that may have snuck in. :P Also, a big thank you to Patrick Carne and Benjamin Pearson (co-workers at Inlight Media) for their help getting this site together (especially with the design).

The final benefit I will get from starting this blog is to overcome my lurker tendencies. All too regularly, I find myself visiting other people's websites, learning from them and yet not sharing feedback with them or engaging them through their comment form. Having my own blog (and the desire to grow a reader base) will encourage me to be more active amongst the web developer community. So if you're a lurker too, why don't you man up and leave a comment.

Nice one broseph! I definitely fall in the "lurker" category, but I'm looking forward to chiming in on your blog regularly and messing with your hit counts.... maybe I could write a script to constantly hit your site... sound familiar? :P
Also the design was all Pat and yourself, but thanks for the shoutout anyway.

Congrats again... I'd shake your hand but you're a good 2 metres away :P

Congrats mate! It's great to be working with a bunch of guys that know their stuff and can now share that knowledge with others! Hopefully your blog will expose some of the great work that you guys are doing at Inlight and spawn some feedback from others.

The pressure is on to get my own blog going now :s. Looking forward to reading more...
